I know some may think that we have dropped off the face of the Earth (I know my grandmother does), so I thought I would write a quick update on what we've been up to.
Two weekends ago, Bill and I flew to Tampa for his friend Wes' gorgeous wedding. It was the first time Bill has been able to get together with all the boys from college since - well - graduation. I love seeing Bill and the guys together, because they are just so darn goofy and entertaining.
Last weekend we went to Atlanta to visit with our friends Andy and Kristi. We haven't seen them since helping them move into their new house several months ago, so we enjoyed visiting with them. We also went to an alumni luau at Bill's high school. That was definitely different, but I think Bill enjoyed catching up with some long lost friends (and probably didn't enjoy seeing some people he never thought he'd see again).
This week has been a tough one for Bill. A power plant brokedown over the weekend, so he spent the first half of the week working long night shifts trying to get the thing fixed. I imagine that the last half of the week will be spent trying to adjust back to working days and catching up on his sleep.
On a brighter note, I now have a rough draft of my specific aims written and approved by my mentor - this basically means that I have an outline for my dissertation so I at least know where I am going with my research and what I must complete in order to graduate. I am so excited, because I finally see some light at the end of the tunnel, even if the tunnel is going to be another 2-3 years long... The next 6-9 months will be spent choosing my committee and prepping for qualifiers - two of the most stressful moments in graduate school. Yay!
After a fairly long couple of weeks, I think Bill and I are despirately looking forward to the lake on Saturday (if it doesn't rain). If anyone wants to go, let me know!
