Home Remodeling Completed

So we finally finished our major remodeling projects, PRAISE THE LORD! The half-bath was a nightmare. Turns out the previous homeowners wall-papered that themselves and were HUGE fans of glue. The majority of the wallpaper in that room took the drywall backing with it, which meant practically the entire room had to be mudded and sanded prior to painting. It did turn out well, though.

The kitchen, on the other hand, turned out beautifully! We were very patient and worked together to remove the wallpaper as carefully as possible, which meant fewer repairs and a better looking finished product. We still haven't painted the trim in either the kitchen or half bath, but the big stuff is finished. In addition to their being NO MORE WALLPAPER, all bathrooms and kitchen have new faucets, the kitchen got a nice new white cast iron (aka scratch-resistant) sink, new improved (aka not leaking) plumbing under the sink, under cabinet lighting on a light switch, and a non-dizzying finish on the walls. I am pleased with the final product. Now, however, I want to go back and re-do some parts of the master bath that look rough. It may be a few months though before I can talk Bill into another project!

Here is a flash back to the old kitchen, complete with lovely grape vine wall paper that apparently matched my mom's shirt on the day of our home inspection.

Here is the new kitchen.

I promised Bill that I would show off his plumbing job. He was very proud of his work!

This is my favorite part - our new sink and faucet and a little touch of us on the wall. Bill and I LOVE the saying, "Live well, laugh often, love much," so we decided to paint it on the wall above the sink. I think it turned out well.

While we were working on the kitchen, I realized how atroucious Winston's dog bed smelled and it was one of those that's rather difficult to wash, so he got a new one that looks and smell better and is easily washed. I don't think he likes it as well, but he will make do. He did downsize from a lab-sized bed to a cocker-spaniel-sized bed.
